Were the races as segregated in Europe in the 60's and 70's as?

they were in the US? Now that I am older I am becoming more aware that other countries don't seem to go through all the racist, segregated stuff the US goes through. Over here in the 60's and 70's it was painfully obvious that White people wanted to keep Blacks in their place ( or so they thought) Out of all the turmoil came the Civil Rights Movement, Counter Culture Groups and Gr Roots Movements. Was it like this in Europe and other countries too?
