Weekend activities around Channel Islands / Oxnard / Port Hueneme?

NPS Government subcontractors have all sorts of boating, hiking, bird-seal-flora watching, diving tours out of Oxnard, Ventura and Santa Barbara. The closest island is Anacapa, which is 14 miles out (one way)....the 4 island chain goes MUCH further out into the ocean. This will take up a lot of your time on your short vacation. If you have already done a lot of the other LA stuff then it would be fine. This is really something for your say second or third trip to LA or something...unless you are totally into this sort of thing....
