I need a wiring diagram for a simplicity rider "model 990400"to hook up generator/starter to regulator.

When I hook up the regulator it blows the fuse that goes to the am-meter. I checked and have no short in that wiring. The starter/gen. is rebuilt. I tried a new regulator and the field wire to the regulator seems to go to ground. I checked another regulator and it is the same. I think the wire from the am-meter goes to the bat. terminal of the reg. I think the armature wire goes to the "L" terminal. Please help if you can?
